For me, this topic about music is important. I was educated in a school where artistic appreciation was through music and melodies of all possible rhythms. Classical music, Latin American rhythms like saya, kaporal and other typical Chileans like cuecas, among others. But as much as I have received that education, the styles I hear the most are from this modern age. They are many but I will focus on some and certain exponents.
Rihanna is one of the singers I listen to the most, I really like it. Her style of pop, R&B and hip-hop mixed with Caribbean or tropical rhythms from the continent, as in her song Work, caught my attention a lot. My favorite albums are Loud and ANTI. Personally I do not consider myself a fan of any artist, I only appreciate their songs and messages, some I will appreciate more than others but not with that feeling of fanaticism behind.
Other styles that I like are those that correspond to the Tech genre. Several other subgenres with their own rhythms emerge from this. Hardcore tech, rave tech and gabber tech are the ones I listen to the most. Styles where the beats per minute are fast, with well-marked bass and melodies that are repeated several times to attract the attention and euphoria of those who listen. The difference between one and the other is in how the bass and melodies are configured. For example, hardcore technology has increasingly strong bass, while rave is more enveloping (this is a substantial detail, many are confused), and the gabber mixes a bit of both, in addition the last one has more cheerful melodies at you invite dancing more fluently on the dance floor. The artists I listen to the most are Kozlov, AIROD, YA, and Buried Secrets. I couldn't tell exactly which of these sub-genres comes first and which come after. There are documentaries and reports on the beginnings of tech gender in Europe and how the young generations of the 90s celebrated in discos. There is a whole culture behind this rhythm.
