m u s i c . . . 🎧✨

For me, this topic about music is important. I was educated in a school where artistic appreciation was through music and melodies of all possible rhythms. Classical music, Latin American rhythms like saya, kaporal and other typical Chileans like cuecas, among others. But as much as I have received that education, the styles I hear the most are from this modern age. They are many but I will focus on some and certain exponents.

Rihanna is one of the singers I listen to the most, I really like it. Her style of pop, R&B and hip-hop mixed with Caribbean or tropical rhythms from the continent, as in her song Work, caught my attention a lot. My favorite albums are Loud and ANTI. Personally I do not consider myself a fan of any artist, I only appreciate their songs and messages, some I will appreciate more than others but not with that feeling of fanaticism behind.

Other styles that I like are those that correspond to the Tech genre. Several other subgenres with their own rhythms emerge from this. Hardcore tech, rave tech and gabber tech are the ones I listen to the most. Styles where the beats per minute are fast, with well-marked bass and melodies that are repeated several times to attract the attention and euphoria of those who listen. The difference between one and the other is in how the bass and melodies are configured. For example, hardcore technology has increasingly strong bass, while rave is more enveloping (this is a substantial detail, many are confused), and the gabber mixes a bit of both, in addition the last one has more cheerful melodies at you invite dancing more fluently on the dance floor. The artists I listen to the most are Kozlov, AIROD, YA, and Buried Secrets. I couldn't tell exactly which of these sub-genres comes first and which come after. There are documentaries and reports on the beginnings of tech gender in Europe and how the young generations of the 90s celebrated in discos. There is a whole culture behind this rhythm.

Postgraduate studies . . . 🎓🎓🎓

Deciding a graduate course in the first place is difficult for me, as I still don't know why I mentioned going to anthropology. Some teachers have told us that, in the end, it doesn't matter which mention you choose, since they all mix in practice, but although I still don't have that experience that says so much, that uncertainty still persists in me.

Whether archeology or social, I would like to take courses both inside and outside of Chile. I think it would be a good opportunity to be able to have specializations both at home and abroad. The ideal modality for me would be part-time, I would like to work and continue studying, possibly it would be studying at night and working during the day.

I am interested in archaeological materiality in Latin and Central America, I am also interested in the structures and social relations and the needs that arise from them. So if I decide to leave Chile, I would still be in the same area because I would seek to study in neighboring countries or within the same continent. But there are also other materialities that interest me, which are those of the Middle East-Asia, although I don't see the possibility of seeing myself studying or working in those places, who knows. But I like more the idea of continuing studying right here on the American continent.

My life in a future . . .

When I discovered the anthropology career and its scope, it motivated me to go to the social side. But already in my second year, I doubt if I really go for the social side or for another, since the archaeological side is tempting me. And imagining that if I worked in archeology, I would like to go abroad, but, of course, you must first have some basic knowledge here in Chile. Whether in a museum or in some field research, I see myself inside and outside the country.

I would like to travel a lot around the world, especially in Central and South America. Also in the eastern areas, I don't have much personal knowledge of those areas. I hope I can get there.

But if I decide the social side, I imagine myself working within the country but in extreme, rural and marginal camp areas. Interviews to improve infrastructure in terms of people's needs, work in NGOs or groups seeking projects for the benefit of the community. Personally, I feel committed to the northern area, since the needs arise from the region where I come from due to water shortages or air and soil contamination by mining companies, among others.

Anyway, I don't know how much money is earned in both sectors. And I don't want to know until now because it may cut me off what little inspiration I have for this whole context of confinement in a pandemic.
